Video game icon Lara Croft hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to screen adaptations. The Angelina Jolie movies were critically panned, while the 2018 reboot starring Alicia Vikander failed to ignite at the box office. Although a sequel for that movie was still put into development, it ultimately failed to see the light of day after the studio’s rights to the franchise expired. The question fans of the kick-ass archaeologist were therefore left with was ‘what next?’
Enter Netflix’s new animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, which welcomes back our heroine somewhat successfully. Set in the same continuity as the most recent Tomb Raider game trilogy, the story picks up following the events of 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, aiming to fill in the timeline between that and the original series of games. However, if you are not a gamer, do not fear: you can still enjoy this new Lara Croft adventure even with zero prior knowledge of her legend.

HBO’s next big show starring The Boys and Ozark actors is here to mock how your favorite superhero movies are made
The official trailer for The Franchise, a new comedy about the making of a blockbuster superhero movie, is here – and we’re ready for the absolute absurdity.
In the brief clip, which can be viewed below, chaos ensues. We see everything from poor VFX to the director being accused of sexism (though he’s always “wanted to do a feminism”) to an on-set brawl brewing on the day the studio is supposed to come visit.
“Is this, by any chance, Taika Waititi’s biography during the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder?” one of the top comments hilariously reads.
The Franchise, created by Jon Brown, is a satirical comedy that follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie fighting for their place in a savage and unruly cinematic universe. The comedy series shines a light on the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking, asking how exactly the cinematic sausage gets made. Every mistake has an origin story.
The cast includes Himesh Patel, Aya Cash, Jessica Hynes, Billy Magnussen, Lolly Adef.. -

“I am the only one in this world with the Dream-Sight ability,” she says in a voiceover after waking up from a dream where Lord Kudo apologizes to her and confesses his love. New Netflix anime series from the makers of Tekken unveils its first clip – and it looks like The Walking Dead meets Star Wars
If you’re a gamer who, like me, lives for a good cutscene then the first clip from Netflix’s new anime series Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is sure to be right up your street.
The footage, which you watch above, was released as part of the platform’s Geeked Week 2024. The annual event sees the streamer celebrate some of its most popular shows, like Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Squid Game, and tease its upcoming titles, too – from Twilight of the Gods and Dandadan to Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.
Co-created by SAFEHOUSE and Bandai Namco, the video game publishers behind Tekken, the six-episode show, which is, as you might have guessed, a part of Hajime Yatate and Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Gundam franchise. It boasts a Star Wars-esque plot as it explores the conflict between two nations, the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation, after the former rebels against the latter in its attempt to gain independence.
