GTA 6 will sell “for 10+ years,” and because “there is no competition” Rockstar is “not going to release the game until they’re 100% happy with it,” reckons former GTA dev
Rockstar veteran Obbe Vermeij reckons the studio can take its sweet time with GTA 6 because “there is no competition to worry about” and the game “will sell for 10+ years” anyway.
Vermeij, who also argued that the game’s 2025 release date won’t be truly locked in until early 2025 at the earliest, speculated on the game’s prospects in a recent Twitter post. Quick to stress that he has “no inside info” and “didn’t talk to anyone” on account of the fact that he left Rockstar North, where he worked as technical lead, 15 years ago, he said: “[GTA 6] will sell for 10+ years and there is no competition to worry about. They are not going to release the game until they’re 100% happy with it. No matter what it said in the trailer.”
In a follow-up reply, Vermeij reckoned the PC version of the game – which hasn’t been announced but seems inevitable given the success of Rockstar games on PC – may not arrive until 2027. He also weighed in on the possibility of Rockstar owner Take-Two Interactive p.. -

Respawn and Battlefield boss says the PS5 Pro’s $700 price tag is “actually not that bad,” and “if you get a $700 PC, you’re not getting the same performance”
Vince Zampella – the Call of Duty boss turned Titanfall and Apex Legends boss who’s now also the Battlefield boss – is just like the rest of us in that he has opinions on the PS5 Pro’s $700 price tag. He reckons it is not that bad, actually.
“I think it’s expected and anything that gets us better performance for the people that really love it,” Zampella tells IGN. “To me, it’s an amazing thing. I was watching something on it where the price… where they look at is it the most expensive. And it really isn’t. If you go back, some of the older consoles were just as expensive and probably adjusted for inflation were probably more. So it at first seemed a little shocking, but it’s kind of like, it’s actually not that bad. And if you get a $700 PC, you’re not getting the same performance that you’re getting out of it.”
Zampella is certainly right that, adjusted for inflation, PS5 Pro is not the most expensive console ever released – it’s not even the priciest machine that Sony’s ever put ou.. -

Cute and cozy Lord of the Rings life sim Tales of the Shire delayed to early 2025
Tales of the Shire, the upcoming life sim based in The Lord of the Rings universe, has been delayed to early 2025. It was originally scheduled to release this Fall.
No concrete reason was provided for the delay, but developer Wētā Workshop suggested the game simply needs more time in the oven.
“All of us here at Wētā Workshop are excited to have you join us in the Shire, a peaceful corner of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world. When a new hobbit steps into Bywater for the first time, we want that moment to be everything you’re hoping for.” The delay will give Wētā Workshop more time to “ensure we deliver that vision”.
I’m pretty bummed out about this one. I was on-board with a life sim, Stardew Valley-type farming game set in the Shire as soon as it was revealed back in April, and everything I’ve seen and heard since then has reinforced my anticipation for this game. My colleague Dustin’s glowing hands-on preview sealed the deal.
“This isn’t just a Stardew Valley reskin with a licensed gimmick, it’..
